Tom, was one of my best friends in school. I literally met him on the first day I was born. Our moms shared the same room in the hospital when we were born. That was brought to light after we met again at South Intemediate School by conversations our parents had. In the past 10 years, Tom, Dave Larson, Mike Lauman, Glenn Unger, Drew Thompson, and I have been meeting about ever other summer to catch up. So, we're all looking forward to "catching up". I recently found out that Tom is going to be honored at the Centennial Middle School in Dade City, Florida where he was the principal until he retired in 2009. They are going to name the Gymnasium after him.

On a sad note, we also lost Drew Thompson in the last year.

Tom and I grew up with each other.  We lived two houses apart on Harry St. and what one of us didn't think of to pay a trick on the other, the other of us thought of it first. I think Tom's Dad got very frustrated at times with the tricks we played on him--like tying their clothes line all the way around the house so they couldn't open the screen doors to get out, or the time we removed every Christmas light from their outside decorations and piled the bulbs on their front porch.

Tom and I were best friends but also competitive.  He was a better athlete than I was but that didn't stop us from playing all sports together, and having a lot of fun doing it.

Naming the gym at the school Tom was principal at is a fitting honor for him.  I miss you Tom but know you're in a better place.

Tom was saddly taken by melanoma on July 3,2013.   The date of the dedication of the school gym has not yet been set.  I will keep watching for that.   Tom you are missed by your friends from our class as well as those in Dade City,Fl.

I remember playing with Tom (and his dad as coach) on elementary school sports teams (basketball, baseball, football). Our football team was city champs one year.

I too have fond memories of the flag football team Tom's dad coached.  It was a ton of fun and we had to memorize actual plays which (miraculously) could be run either "Right" or "Left".  Especially the "Sleeper" play which won several games for us at the last minute.
